Highlights
- This study utilised real-world French healthcare data and propensity score matching to compare the cost-effectiveness of daily home haemodialysis and in-centre haemodialysis, thereby helping to avoid selection bias.
- Daily home haemodialysis was found to be more cost-effective than in-centre HD, with a 15 % lower annual cost for incident patients.
- Daily home haemodialysis substantially reduced transport and hospitalisation costs, ensuring a more patient-centred and efficient use of resources.
- Incident patients on Daily home HD had a much lower mortality rate (1·9 % vs. 10·4 % in centre HD, p = 0·049), which highlights its survival benefits.
- Survival analysis showed that patients on daily home HD were seven times less likely to die, as evidenced by the Cox proportional hazards model.
